Thanksgiving day is over in the U.S., but for many of us the holiday spirit lingers on, inspiring us to think about home and family, hot fires, warm cider, twinkling lights. I certainly am. The fevered house cleaning I performed on Wednesday has made me feel like decorating, and today I pulled out the box of lights from the attic to hang on the eaves of the roof tomorrow. I hope that all of you in the U.S. are spending the weekend enjoyably, in whatever manner you choose.
I had a truly wonderful, truly relaxing day yesterday. My mom took advantage of the perfect weather and drove over from Central Oregon, and it was just the three of us including my honey. I didn't take any pictures of the food, though when I placed the cornish game hens on the serving platter the thought did cross my mind while their little legs were still trussed up with baking twine and sprigs of rosemary. However, the next thing I knew we were tearing into the photo opportunity with hungry forks and knives, the moment being better savored by being present.
