I recently finished a suite of business cards for the startup nonprofit preschool Flora and Fauna, located in a beautiful historic building in the Overlook neighborhood of Portland.
I began working with Flora and Fauna early this summer, designing their logo and helping them realize the overall look and feel of their branding. They had a specific aesthetic and a few graphic motifs already in mind which shied far away from typical preschool "cutsie" imagery and comic sans typography. I enjoyed drawing the dogwood flowers for both the front of the business card and for their web banner, as well as the giant Digger Pine cone which is printed across the back of the card. Both of those specimens of flora feature predominantly in the Overlook neighborhood.
Flora and Fauna is currently enrolling new students for fall. Please check out their website if you'd like more information about their thoughtful approach and vision for their school!
