Last summer I was contacted by a fellow OCAC alum Janene Grace. After years of working in the beer, wine, and spirits regulation industry, Janene had recently begun her own consulting agency, Grace Regulatory Consultants.
I was thrilled to make this connection, as I've begun to really enjoy working with the ever growing beer and cider industry people here in the Portland area. On top of that, Janene's creative brief was right in line with the type of work I love to do - inspired by textile pattern and Scandinavian design.
It was important that the illustration communicate that Grace Regulatory Consultants not only provides service to the beer, wine, and spirits industry, but to the growing cider industry as well. I worked at creating a simple graphic that reflected all of these elements.
I begin every job with the hand. The haptic process is so important to my ability to visualize and problem solve. Only after I've fully visualized a number of elements do I take it to the computer and begin to resolve the sketches into vector art. I really love how the process evolves, there's so much back and forth.
I'm beginning to build the Art and Illustration section of my website. It's happening slowly but I'm very excited to showcase my newest illustration work and the turn toward art and design that Tiger Food Press is taking. I'll continue to post as new work is uploaded, stay tuned!
