Class - Letterpress Photopolymer Basics

Learn how to hand-process and print from photopolymer plates in this 5-week class for beginning and intermediate printers. In class, we will explore how photopolymer is used for much of today’s letterpress design work and how you can integrate this material into your own work. You will process plates using lo-fi techniques for a distinctive, handmade look, and will also have the opportunity to set up digital files for plate production. We will print short runs of small items such as business cards, note cards, post cards, or bookmarks – perfect for the holiday season and making gifts!

Prerequisite: None.

Join printmaker Clare Carpenter for this dynamic class in the Bookarts Studio. Clare is a letterpress printer and printmaker with a background rooted in both commercial print shops as well as small press fine binderies. For over a decade she’s produced limited edition artist books, broadsides, and ephemera under her imprint Tiger Food Press.
